Where your data lives

Almost everything stays on your device. The little that does not, lives on our servers. Here is exactly what that means.

On your device

Your calculator inputs and results, your filing-guide progress, and your small UI preferences all stay in your browser's local storage. They never travel to our servers. If you clear your browser data, they are gone. If you use a different device, they do not appear there.

This is by design. The thing you would worry about most — the actual income numbers you type — never leaves the device you typed them on.

On our servers

The website itself, our content, and the privacy-respecting page counter live on our servers. When you load a page, you hit our servers. When the analytics counter records a page view, it lands on our servers. That is the entire footprint of your visit on our side.

When optional features ship in later phases — saved scenarios, alerts, voluntary filing — anything you knowingly hand over for those features will also live on our servers.

What we mean by “our servers”

NoTaxMe runs on a small set of infrastructure providers we have chosen for reliability and reach.

What is fixed is the posture: a clean internal interface that lets us swap a provider without rewriting features, no citizen-surveillance partnerships, and the same privacy rules apply no matter where the bytes happen to sit.

Backups and retention

We keep operational backups of our servers for the minimum time needed to recover from an outage. They are never used to mine for behavioural data. When optional features arrive, the retention windows for each will be documented here.
